World War One 1917 British SE5A

Besides the Civil War, I would like to do some wargames using WW1 aircraft. I might be doing something in the near future, for now I'll build a few planes, since I've never built any, this is my
first one, and I'm sure it wont be the last. Comments always welcome.

  1. I like it. So what scale is this? I think some appropriate foot figures around the plane would enhance the look of this piece even more. Dean

  2. Hi Dean, Its 1/48...I think its a perfect size, not too small where you cant get any detail out of it.
The wing span is about 5 1/2 inches.

  3. I agree - I like 1/48 stuff. My WW2 vehicles are 1/48-1/50 scale. Maybe a bit large for some folks' tastes, but I like the availability of 1/48 stuff.

Your basing for this aircraft is very reminiscent of photos of a German plane (in 1:32/54mm scale) in a book of military miniatures I have. The base also includes some ground troops around the aircraft - one holding a piece of an enemy aircraft; and also an uhlan cavalryman walking his horse by. Very interesting composition. Dean

  4. That is a fine looking model! I must admit to having a soft spot for aircraft kits-although I have only ever really built 1/72nd scale. Biplanes look great but my skill level leaves a lot to be desired, yours is much better. Would be interested to see more!
